RIVER RATS WILL BROADCAST FULL SCHEDULE |

“The River Rats organization is excited to be able to bring our fans every pitch of the upcoming season on the radio,” said Weisbart. “To be able to do so on ESPN Radio, which is a perfect home for us, is that much better.” Last season, the team broadcast 37 games on WNOS 1450 AM. When the owners of WNOS changed the format of sister station WWNB to an ESPN Radio sport format in December, it was only natural that the River Rats begin discussions to become the centerpiece of the station’s summer broadcasts. “Once the decision to switch formats was made,” said WWNB General Manager Mike Afflerbach, “we immediately contacted the River Rats. We know that our success depends on concentrating on local sports-- so we knew we needed to add them to our radio coverage. About the River Rats: The New Bern River Rats baseball club is a member of the Coastal Plain League, a high-profile wood-bat collegiate summer baseball league. The team will open the 2007 season on Wednesday, May 30 against the Wilmington Sharks at New Bern High School’s Boykin Field.
